SPCR Membership
The Society for Pastoral Counselling Research offers four types
of memberships, namely, Regular, Student, Lifetime, and Honorary
Memberships. The last two types are presented at the discretion
of the Executive of the Society and are presented at the Annual
Meeting of the Society. The membership fees for Regular Membership
and Student Membership are determined annually.
Regular Membership: Persons holding a graduate degree or
equivalent in Pastoral Counselling, Pastoral Care, or related disciplines,
or faculty members of university institutions or programs of Pastoral
Counselling, Pastoral Care, or related disciplines, are eligible
for Regular Membership (See Constitution, Article II).
Student Membership:
Full-time students enrolled in a Pastoral
Counselling, Pastoral Care, or related disciplines are eligible
to apply for a Student Membership.
Lifetime Membership: At the discretion of the Executive
of the Society, this membership is presented to persons who have
been members of the Society for Pastoral Counselling Research for
a period of at least 15 years and who have contributed substantially
to the life and operation of the Society. A member in good standing
with the Society, has the right to nominate persons for Lifetime
Membership.
Honorary Membership:
At the discretion of the Executive
of the Society, this membership is presented to persons who have
not been members of the Society but who have contributed in significant
ways to the life and function of the Society. A member in good standing
with the Society, has the right to nominate persons for Honorary
Membership.
The membership period, for Regular and Student Memberships, extends
from January 1st to December 31st of a given year. The benefits
of membership are: the right to nominate candidates for executive
positions and for research awards, and to vote on agenda items at
the General Assembly; reduced conference fees; reduced pre-conference
workshop fees; and a copy of the bi-annual SPCR NewsLetter
and the SPCR Directory.
The revenue received from the Membership Fees is used to: pay for
the bi-annual mailings, maintain the electronic mail list, print
the Directory, develop and maintain the SPCR Web Page, and to purchase
office supplies.
