Dissertation Award
The Society for Pastoral counselling Research grants the SPCR Dissertation
Award to a graduate student who has successfully completed and defended
his/her thesis or a dissertation to recognize his or her contributions
within the field of pastoral counselling. The award, which is non-monetary,
will be granted to the successful recipient at the annual conference
of the Society for Pastoral counselling Research. The criteria for
eligibility are that:
- The applicant’s thesis/dissertation be clearly within the field
of pastoral counselling.
- The thesis/dissertation be for a Master’s or Doctoral degree
in Pastoral Counselling or a related field from an accredited
institution.
- The thesis/dissertation make a contribution to the field of
pastoral counselling.
- The time span between the date on which the applicant successfully
defended the thesis/dissertation and the date of nomination for
the award not exceed two years.
- The recipient be nominated by a SPCR member in good standing,
be sponsored by a second professional, and accept, in writing,
the nomination.
- The recipient provide: (1) a current Vitae, (2) an article length
summary (no more than 30 pages in APA format) of the thesis/dissertation
clearly indicating the contribution that it makes to the field
of pastoral counselling, and (3) a letter of support from his/her
research advisor (including date of completion of the thesis/dissertation.
All of this material together with duly signed Nomination Form
are forwarded to the President of the SPCR, Chairperson of the
Awards Committee, by February 28 in the year that the award is
offered.
- The recipient assume all traveling and lodging expenses incurred
in accepting the award.
- Exceptions to any of these criteria must be approved by the
Members of the SPCR Executive.
The following are not eligible to receive this award: members of
the awards committee, former recipients of the award, and the SPCR
President, Past-President, and the President-Elect.
This award will not necessarily be granted each year. It will be
granted on the condition that a candidate fulfill all of the above
requirements. Any exceptions to the above set of criteria must be
approved by the executive. In selecting a nominee for the award,
the decision of the executive will be final. In the case that the
nominee is not able to personally receive it, the award will be
forwarded by mail.
Criteria to Evaluate Nomination for Dissertation Award
The Awards Committee of the Society for Pastoral Counselling Research
appreciates you having accepted to evaluate the enclosed article
length summary of a thesis/dissertation which has been submitted
for the Dissertation Award to be granted at the annual conference.
In evaluating the article length summary on each of the criteria
indicated below, use as a frame of reference, theses, dissertations
and/or research projects that you have evaluated in the past.
After you have completed the evaluation, please print the name
of the author of the article length summary of the thesis/dissertation
and sign and date the report.

Junior Career Research Award
This award is granted by the Society for Pastoral counselling Research
to a researcher to recognize his or her contributions within the
field of pastoral counselling. The award, which is non-monetary,
will be presented to the successful nominee at the annual conference
of the Society for Pastoral counselling Research. The criteria for
eligibility are that:
- The nominee have published at least five articles on pastoral
counselling in refereed journals or published one book on pastoral
counselling.
- The nominee have completed his highest degree no less than five
years ago and no more than ten years ago.
- The nominee have been nominated by a SPCR member in good standing,
be sponsored by a second professional, and accept, in writing,
the nomination.
- The nominee provide a current vitae and a recent complete bibliography
which is to be forwarded together with the Nomination Form to
the President of SPCR, Chairperson of the Awards Committee, by
February 28 in the year that the award is offered.
- The nominee submit one copy of three published articles or one
book for review. The book will be returned after the review process.
- The nominee assume all traveling and lodging expenses incurred
in accepting the award.
- Exceptions to any of these criteria must be approved by the
Members of the SPCR Executive.
The following are not eligible to receive this award: members of
the awards committee, former recipients of the award, and the SPCR
president and the president-elect.

Senior Career Research Award
The Senior Career Research Award will be granted by the Society
for Pastoral Counselling Research to a researcher to recognize his
or her contributions to the field of pastoral counselling. The eligible
nominee must demonstrate significant contributions in at least one
domain in pastoral counselling. The award, which is non-monetary,
will be granted to the successful nominee at the annual conference
of the Society for Pastoral counselling Research. The criteria for
eligibility are that:
- The nominee has published at least ten articles on pastoral
counselling in refereed journals or published two books on pastoral
counselling.
- The nominee has completed his highest degree no less than ten
years ago and no more than twenty years ago.
- The nominee be nominated by a SPCR member in good standing,
be sponsored by a second professional, and accept, in writing,
the nomination.
- The nominee provide a current vitae, a recent complete bibliography
and five articles or a book which are to be forwarded together
with the Nomination Form to the President of the SPCR, Chairperson
of the Awards Committee, by February 28 in the year the award
is granted.
- The nominee provide two letters of reference from persons familiar
with his/her work and with the field of pastoral counselling.
- The nominee assume all traveling and lodging expenses incurred
in accepting the award.
- Exemptions to any of these criteria must be approved by the
Members of the SPCR Executive.

the awards committee, former nominees of the award, and the SPCR
president and the president-elect.

Criteria to Evaluate Nomination for the Senior Career Research
Award
The Senior Career Research Award is granted by the Society for
Pastoral counselling Research to a researcher to recognize his/her
significant contributions to the field of pastoral counselling. The
impact of the person’s contributions shall have been in one or more
research and theoretical areas of pastoral counselling.
In evaluating the nominee for this award, score each of the following
criteria on the 4-point scale. Refer to the enclosed curriculum
vitae, articles, books, and letters of reference to make your evaluation.
After you have completed the evaluation, please print the name

Distinguished Career Research Award
This award is granted by the Society for Pastoral counselling Research
to a researcher to recognize his or her distinguished and enduring
contributions to the field of pastoral counselling. In whatever form
the individual’s contributions are regarded as distinguished, the
impact of the work shall have been on the international advancement
of pastoral counselling. The award, which is non-monetary, will
be presented to the successful nominee at the annual conference
of the Society for Pastoral counselling Research. The criteria for
eligibility are that:
- The nominee have published at least ten articles on pastoral
counselling in refereed journals or published two books on pastoral
counselling.
- The nominee have fostered research on the international scene
by the creation of a research journal on pastoral counselling,
development of a research centre, and/or the founding of a society
whose primary goal is research oriented.
- The nominee have been nominated by a SPCR member in good standing,
be sponsored by a second professional, and accept, in writing,
the nomination.
- The nominee provide a current vitae, a recent complete bibliography,
and five articles or a book which are to be forwarded together
with the Nomination Form to the President of SPCR, the Chairperson
of the Awards Committee, by February 28 in the year that the award
is offered.
- The nominee provide two letters of references by persons familiar
with his/her work and with the profession of pastoral counselling.
- The nominee assume all traveling and lodging expenses incurred
in accepting the award.
- Exemptions to any of these criteria must be approved by the
Members of the SPCR Executive.

the Awards Committee, former nominees of the award, and the SPCR
President and the President-elect.

for Pastoral counselling Research to a researcher to recognize his/her
distinguished and enduring contributions to the field of pastoral
counselling. The impact of the person’s distinguished contributions
shall have been on the international advancement of pastoral counselling.
In evaluating the nominee for this award, score him/her on the
4-point scale for each of the following criteria. For your evaluation,
refer to the enclosed curriculum vitae, articles, books, and letters
of reference. After you have completed the evaluation, please print
the name of the author and sign and date the report.
